Lucia Hassard - Red Lights Black outfit - Dreaming of Selena Photo
Lucia Hassard was born in H. Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. At a very early age, Lucia’s father noticed that she showed a huge interest in singing. At the tender age of 5, Lucia started participating in dances and parades often imitating the Mexican Rock/Pop sensations at the time. Her favorite artists to imitate were Alejandra Guzman and Gloria Trevi.
At the age of 10, Lucia and her family moved to the United States and settled in Phoenix, AZ. Her teachers at the elementary school she first attended quickly noticed her passion and dedication to music. This passion led them to immediately sign her up to participate in the school band called “The New Wave Kids Band.” By the time Lucia turned 12, Selena held such a massive influence that she began to imitate Selena’s style which quickly turned into a tribute to her hero. Lucia’s vocals and dance style were so close to Selena’s that she started to get hired all over the southwest, making her one of the most hired tributes at that time.

At the age of 14 Lucia joined the versatile original group, “Amor Gitano” which inspired her to start writing music of her own. Her first album of original music was called “Sentimientos” and was recorded under the Lama Records label. Lucia also formed a band with 2 of her brothers called “Hypnosis” performing Rock en Espanol covers and quickly became a popular cover band in the Phoenix area.

Lucia became a driving force in the Hispanic music scene in her 20’s and was performing professionally under the name, “Lucia La Atrevida.” This name was given to her from fans because of her daring and sexy style. Her first album, “La Atrevida” was released under the Aries Music/EMI Latin Label. Following the release, Lucia toured extensively covering the Southwest and Northern Mexico regions. In recent years, Lucia has continued to perform as a singer/songwriter in various musical projects ranging from rock and metal to Spanish music but her love for Selena drove her to reform the tribute to her hero. Dreaming of Selena is the result from years of dedication to studying and performing the art of Selena to fans throughout the Southwest. Lucia’s passion for Selena will show through her performance and will ultimately leave the audience feeling they were transported back in time.
